Frequently Asked Questions

What is a TLG file?
A QuickBooks Transaction Log that records changes since the last backup, used for recovery with the company file.
Can this page generate QBW?
No. Only QuickBooks can rebuild QBW using the TLG and a matching QBW/QBB.
What if I only have TLG?
You need a corresponding QBW or QBB. Without it, recovery is not possible.
How do I find the matching QBW/QBB?
The matching file usually shares the same base filename as the TLG and resides in the same folder. Check your backup location for recent QBB files.
Will using TLG overwrite my data?
QuickBooks rebuild uses the TLG to reconstruct changes since the backup. Always keep copies of your original QBW/QBB before rebuilding.
Can I open TLG without QuickBooks?
No. TLG is a proprietary log format intended for QuickBooks’ internal recovery process.
